A poem and a parable.
As translated by the Writer.
Because Bird is my original name and the only name I knew for the first few years of my life.
The Elder who bestowed the name upon me conveyed
the ability to "see ahead" and to know things "ahead of time."
The cost of such vision was deep pain and profound sorrow
for I learned that the penalty of peering is poverty.
Through the power of my mind,
in collaboration with the unseen presence that permeates all,
I eventually thought my way beyond the emotional cage they created for me.
Now, I soar high above them, forever and eternally beyond their grasp, traversing the Earth as the fastest bird in the sky.
I celebrate my past pain for it taught me how to navigate this planet fearlessly.
Now I know that I cannot be defeated.
And that our Dream will not be deferred.
